Foundation Software

The Foundation Software Suite is the heart of the MDG System. It provides the basic capability of medication removal, while also ensuring secure access control and integrated workflows throughout the hospital.

The Suite automates the management of critical metrics including medication error rate reduction, control substance management and documentation, billing accuracy, and reduction in inventory cost.

Comprised of five software modules, this system serves as the infrastructure layer for all other software and hardware elements.

Catalog Management module: Plan, manage and control the customer’s master item list for both medications and supplies. This system manages information such as bar code labels, generic substances, dosage forms, NDC codes and inventory levels.

Inventory Management module: Control the entire pharmaceutical inventory simply and accurately. This module manages items stored in the automated dispensing cabinets and elsewhere in the facility. It includes:

  • Item refill, dispense, waste, return, count and item expiration
  • Minimum, maximum levels and recommended normal reorder amounts
  • Stock levels for each stored item
  • Automatic alerts upon reaching low/critical low levels of stock
  • Automatic creation of purchase orders for restocking

Reporting module: Spot errors, fraud and waste more easily. This system, which provides both pre-defined and customized clinical, operational and logistical reports, improves your ability to manage controlled substances, expiration dates, stock refills, reorder levels, and patient-specific medication information.
Integration module: This component allows you to interface to external systems via the Microsoft BizTalk integration platform.

Interface Engine module: ServeRx™ offers ADT, billing and orders interfaces, which greatly reduces data entry. With this module, ServeRx can work with any HIS system, including proprietary systems.
